Messerschmitt Bf 109
In May 1943 , I . / JG 3 began receiving supplies fighter Messerschmitt Bf 109 G - 6 to replace aircraft that have been used , namely Bf 109 G - 2 and G - 4 . Conversion to this new type of time-consuming during the summer of 1943 . Such G - 2 and G - 4 , G - 6 can be armed with two 20mm cannon under the wings through the use Rüstsatz R6 . Many pilots hunters who do not like this tool because the resulting loss of speed . The photo above shows the " weapons boat " ( sarcastically nicknamed the pilots ) after such delivery to the I . / JG 3 in one airstrip in Germany . For mission duties in the Reich and the Netherlands , I.Gruppe use airfields in München - Gladbach and Bönninghardt . This aircraft uses a gray camouflage scheme with a standard colored spots in the same body part . Spinnernya - paint itself in four different colors . At the rear end of the red - green color is black and black full segment that adorn nearly two thirds of the spinner. The remaining part is colored white with black stripe - green cool . Bf 109 at the end of the background itself has a yellow spinner . Also note the radius of the wheel rim , which is rarely seen for aircraft of type G - 6 . ( behind the second plane also has a rim radius of this kind ) . Production of G - 6 standards are usually equipped with a disc-shaped rim . Long antenna mast on top of the cockpit makes us know that this plane is one of a series of G- 6 first output produced in the spring and summer of 1943 with Werknummer mold 15200 , 16300 , 18000 and 19000
In the summer of 1940 , III . / JG 26, Major Adolf Galland leader based in Caffiers airfield located to the east of Calais and from there they used to make incursions into British airspace . An engineer officer of III . / JG 26, Hauptmann Rolf Schödter that turned out to be a photography enthusiast , and he took a lot of color photographs of the unit, some of which is the photo above and the photos afterwards . This photo shows the Bf 109 E - 4 " Weiß 13 " , flown by Leutnant Walter Blume of 7.Staffel . Part of the engine cover has been moved , while the former looks at the cover shot hole machine guns that have been placed on the ground . This indicates that the plane hit damage in battle , and a technician was seen assess how severe the damage
Messerschmitt Bf 109 flown by Leutnant Walter Blume of 7 Staffel . Four black bars on the wings of victory behind the wheel indicates that this photo was taken between the dates of July 25, 1940 ( fourth victory achieved Blume ) and August 15, 1940 ( when he was caught ) . Also visible here the presence of a yellow identity marker introduced by Luftflotte 2 in early August 1940. Bookmarks colored tokay is smeared around the tip of the wing , horizontal stabilizer and the outer part , in some cases , at the top of the wing behind the wheel . The presence of yellow marking indicating that the above photo was taken in the first two weeks of August 1940 . Marking the yellow seems to be smeared with professionals . For example , a triangular yellow paint on the top of the wing behind the steering wheel slightly to the spilling around the vertical stabilizer . Also there is little difference between the yellow triangle on the rear wheel of the wings ( more orange ) in yellow on the other ( yellow thok ) . For color photos like the one above is not a problem because it seems clear , but the problem is that is available is black and white photo ! That there is an error in the identification of publishing books on the Luftwaffe in the past , as in black-and- white reddish yellow color is more similar to the color red . Note also the tactical numbers smaller than usual , which is typical of III . / JG 26 , also of a heart shape with 7 Staffel contained in the engine cover lying ' ngaceng ' under the wing tip . As explained earlier , in the wings behind the wheel we can see four bars victories ( the first two red , two black hereinafter ) . This is quite surprising , because the four Blume achieved victory against the RAF on the Western Front . Marking on the top of the crossbar is not a badge shaped like a general , but a round with each victory date information in it . The Bf 109 aircraft using standard camouflage pattern in 1940. Here we also can see a half-hearted attempt to disguise Balkenkreuz emblem on the wing by using a straw . The existence of the remaining straw on the ground indicate that this is a common thing . In the background there is a Klemm 35 Gruppe aircraft which has also been polished with a straw . On September 18 , 1940, just a few days after this photo was taken , the Bf 109 aircraft piloted by Leutnant Walter Blume shot down by a Hurricane of 32 Squadron near Canterbury during the attack on the UK mission . He was badly injured in the emergency landing attempt , while the plane itself was destroyed . Blume returned to Germany in exchange for German prisoners - British in 1943 and active again fly . He recorded 14 wins again until the war ended
After repairs are completed , a Luftwaffe ground crew glycol fill tank of " Weiß 13 " . Note the red charging instructions composition written by hand under the tank hole : " Charging ... 50 % water , 50 % glycol , 1.5 % preservative fluid " . Apparent bullet holes in the protective coating machine gun stored in the foreground . Shape of the hole indicates that the shot came from behind . Note also the Geschwader emblem of JG 26 and a black spinner . Strangely enough work to fill this tank gets dressed civilian oversight of a canal !
Photo Messerschmitt Bf 109 " Weiß 2 " of 7./JG 77 taken in Morlaix airfield in Normandy . Note the proportion between the wavy lines III . Gruppe aircraft with individual numbers . This is a typical aircraft III . / JG 77 between January s / d April 1941 . Also noteworthy is that the engine cover of an old yellow Bf 109 E - 7 on this one , too Gruppe wolf head emblem which was first introduced by Hauptmann Winterfeldt . Morlaix airfield used by III . / JG 77 on February 14, s / d end of April 1941 . Coating iron floor coating used to cover the soft soil or loose
One hero of the air in front Eismeer 6.Staffel/Jagdgeschwader 5 during the winter 1942/1943 was Feldwebel Hans Dobrich ( in addition to other champions from the same unit that is more well-known sort of Oberleutnant Horst Carganico , Rudolf Müller Oberfeldwebel or Leutnant Heinrich Ehrler ) . Photos taken in the summer of 1943 shows the aircraft Messerschmitt Bf 109 G - 2 " gelbe 10 " Dobrich 's latest output is equipped with a 2cm cannon bergondola ( Rüstsatz R6 = Gondel MG 151/20 ) . Because the " Eismeerjäger " mostly just face Russia Hurricane planes slower , then the effect of the lack of airspeed due to not feeling bergondola canon . This aircraft has a four leaf clover image that became the emblem of II.Gruppe / JG 5 ( and also the personal emblem Feldwebel Dobrich ) . Note also signs of an oil leak at the oil cooler and Stammkennzeichen marking on the bottom wing aircraft that is not entirely coated . This photo was taken on Alakurtti possibility
Messerschmitt Bf 109g - 6 " Weiß 2 + I " piloted by Leutnant Josef - Emil Clade ( 27 kills) , Staffelkapitän of 7./JG 27 " Africa " , photographed from the Heinkel He 111 aircraft while flying over Crete , the Mediterranean Sea , dated December 1, 1943 . Dogfight last occurred on February 25, 1945 when he struggled against aircraft USAAF P - 38 twin - engine fighter . He managed to shoot down his opponent , but he himself then had to bail out of a crippled plane . He then met with his pilot and gift exchange over lunch !
